Walden Theatre Announces Three Staff Changes

Walden Theatre announces three changes among the full-time personnel responsible for the organization's business operations, creative and instructional leadership, and communications/marketing. With these management changes and staff additions, Walden completes a two-year reorganization cycle.

On August 1, Alison Huff was promoted to Managing Director after serving two years as Walden's Development Director. Also at that time, Alec Volz's title was updated to Associate Artistic Director in order to better reflect his role and responsibilities with the Walden Theatre. On November 10, Isaac Spradlin joined the staff as the new Communications Manager. Moving forward, he will be handling all marketing, media relations, and other communications for the organization.

"Alison and Alec continue to be incredibly valuable to the organization, and with the addition of Isaac I am confident the message and value of Walden will reach much further into the community, ensuring our continued growth and success."

Alison Huff was recently promoted to Managing Director at Walden after spending the last two years as Walden's Development Director. Since joining the organization in May 2007, individual donations have nearly doubled, and corporate donations have quadrupled. Alison has also started a youth board at Walden (TAAG, Teen Actors Advisory Group), and is proud of them for raising $2,000 for the scholarship fund in their very first year! Alison holds a Master's Degree from the University of Louisville in Public Administration, specializing in Nonprofit Management, and a BA in Political Science. Having spent many of her teenage years on stage, Alison knows firsthand the positive impact theatre arts education has on youth development.

Alec Volz is in his 9th season with Walden Theatre, where he recently directed Coriolanus, My So-Called So-Called Life, The Taming of the Shrew, The Time of Your Life, Troilus and Cressida, As It Is In Heaven, The Grapes of Wrath, The Language of Angels, The Two Noble Kinsmen, Antigone, Holiday, and Richard III. A Louisville native and graduate of Trinity High School, Alec attended the University of Kentucky before touring with a children's theatre company he co-founded. Alec studied with the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York, where he performed in several Off-Off Broadway productions and on the CBS soap opera The Guiding Light. Technical credits include set, prop, and sound design for most Walden productions, and production stage manager for The Chicago Improv Festival. Alec is also a narrator for the American Printing House for the Blind, a co-founder of the Louisville Improvisors, and is a commercial voice-over actor.

Isaac Spradlin joined Walden Theatre in 2009 to handle marketing, media relations, and communications. He is an internationally published arts & culture writer who reported news for public radio and wrote at Forbes in NYC as an intern, and he holds a master's in Arts Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Isaac benefitted from a childhood spent around the arts, and he's glad to spread the word in the community about what the awesome young people at Walden Theatre are doing.
